1. What does a Personal Photo Organizer do? A Personal Photo Organizer works side by side to help you develop an organized system for your photos that works for you. We help you identify the stories that your photos tell. Then we help you decide how best to enjoy and share those photos. We are here to help you start and complete a project. Sometimes you just need that personal trainer to help you over the hump and cheer you on to the finish line. We help keep you focused and offer second opinions with any difficult decisions. Finally, we provide you with resources to tell your stories, enjoy your photos, and share them with your friends and family.

2. Does the Personal Photo Organizer come to me? Yes, most organizing services take place in your home. Services such as scanning, photo restoration, or creating a photo book will be done in our studio. It is important to meet with you personally, even if we are doing some of the services outside your home, so we know what you want and how best to reach your goals.

3. What is APPO (Association of Personal Photo Organizers) and are you a member? APPO is “a growing and thriving network of professionals dedicated to telling our clients’ stories. Through images, words, and creatively designed photo books, scrapbooks, and more, Photo Organizers are bringing cherished memories back into clients’ lives.” APPO has a Code of Ethics which members are expected to abide by. A personal photo organizer who is an APPO member has made a commitment to his/her business and thus to you, the client. Members are well trained and have a network of resources that become available to you. PSG Photo Solutions is an active member of APPO.

4. Why are printed photos important? What effect do they have on my children and family? Dr. Kenneth Condrell, a child psychologist, family counselor and author, talks about the power of photos to impact a child and their sense of belonging and self-worth. “Keeping photographs around the house is a form of validation for children. It lets them know they matter and they are loved…” “Pictures that show kids with loved ones add to their sense of feeling secure and loved,” Condrell says. “Children love to go back and see themselves as babies and toddlers and how important they were to everybody. It helps develop a memory bank and an identity as a family member.” Photos need to be easily accessible. Photo albums and books don’t require technology to view them. Children will pick up a book and look through the photos, or read the story. They notice the photos and notes on the refrigerator more than you might think!

5. What can I do to prepare for working with a Personal Photo Organizer? Getting your photos organized isn’t rocket science. But it does help to have someone help you get it done! Most people want to do something with their photos, but just don’t get around to it. That’s when bringing in a personal photo organizer allows you to get organized, tell the story, and complete the project. So locate all the places you have photos in your house, computer, phone, and camera. Start to look at them to see which should go in an album, which just need to be kept in storage, which should be tossed in the can (those blurry, fuzzy ones). As you go through them, decide which pictures have stories that you just have to tell! A personal photo organizer can help you get it done!

6. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional? Why do you do this? What is your background and experience in photo organization, layout and design? Check for referrals and testimonials. Do they have discounts for large or multiple projects?
